Solid Season Ends For Chabot Baseball

The Chabot baseball team, which battled down the stretch to earn a playoff spot, finished another competitive season with back-to-back losses to Big 8 Conference power Sacramento City.
The 14th-seeded Gladiators (22-20), who finished second in the Coast Golden Gate with a 13-7 record, won four of their final five games in the regular season, including the final two in extra innings.
But No. 3 seed Sacramento City proved to be a tough draw.
In Chabot's 6-1 loss on May 4, Chabot's Troy Bachand and Francisco Pedraza both had two hits and Jalen Bustos had an RBI sacrifice fly, scoring Tim O'Dalaigh. Starter Chris Tonna allowed 11 hits but just two earned runs over 7.0 innings.
Sacramento City clinched the best-of-three-game series with a 5-1 win on May 5. Marcus Dubois gave a solid effort in relief for the Gladiators, allowing one hit and no runs over 3.2 innings. O'Dalaigh had a double and Bachand an RBI.
Shortstop David Langer had an outstanding season with 50 RBI to rank tied for seventh in the state. His .407 batting average is No. 11 in the state. He is also ranked in the state's top 10 in hits with 66 and is 14th in on base percentage at .515 and 15th in slugging percentage at .630.
Langer led Chabot with seven home runs, O'Dalaigh was next with five and Francisco Pedraza and Cole Coffey had four apiece. O'Dalaigh also had 41 RBI (No. 2 on the team).
