FOOTBALL GLADIATORS RANKED NO. 23 IN STATE

After an impressive season-opening win over Shasta, the Chabot football team has vaulted to No. 23 in the JC Athletic Bureau state poll. The Gladiators were unranked in the state preseason poll.

Chabot (1-0) will look to remain unbeaten when it travels to face Sequoias (0-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.
In an authoritative 27-7 win over Shasta at Gladiator Stadium on Sept. 1, Chabot newcomer Chayce Akaka passed for 99 yards and a touchdown and ran for 81 yards and a TD to highlight the effort.

Isaiah-Nehemiah McGlown ran for 97 yards and two TDs. Da'Juan Johnson had seven catches for 62 yards.
On defense, Titus Sullivan and Devon Vaenuku paced Chabot with seven tackles apiece. Le-Anthony Grey and Lando Grey both had six tackles, Le-Anthony Grey had 1.5 sacks and two tackles for loss, and Lando Grey also had a sack. Ethan Owens had the game's lone interception.
Chabot had a stout defensive effort overall, limiting Shasta to 95 net yards rushing.
