CHABOT OPENS SEASON WITH WIN

The Chabot men's basketball team kicked off the Keenan McMiller era with a 68-60 win over Cosumnes River in the San Jose City Tipoff tourney on Nov. 1.

Things went a bit south in the Gladiators' next two games, losses to Monterey Peninsula and Gavilan, so the team will have plenty of motivation as continues to prepare for Coast Conference-North Division action.

Kyle Brown, a 6-foot-5 freshman guard out of Dublin High, led the way against Cosumnes River with 18 points.

James Logan graduate Jordan McGlory, a 6-foot-4 sophomore forward, had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman guard Akili Daniels (Sacramento) had 10 points and five boards.

The Gladiators (1-2) showed their resolve in a 64-59 loss to Monterey Peninsula, rallying from a 16-point halftime deficit to make it close. Chabot outscored Monterey 32-21 in the second half.
