GLADS ROAR INTO CONFERENCE PLAY

The Chabot men's soccer team finished nonconference play with two heady performances in wins over Siskiyous, 7-0, and Ohlone, 5-3, this past week.
The Glads (4-2), riding a four-game winning streak under new head coach Geoff Aguiar, will begin play in the Coast-South Conference at home against City College of San Francisco at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
Against Siskiyous on Sept. 19, Chabot showcased its depth as everyone on the active roster contributed minutes. "Very cool for us as a collective group," Aguiar said.
Then the Glads won an offensive shootout over host Ohlone on Sept. 22, upping a 4-3 halftime lead to prevail by two. Four Chabot players scored and several players gave positive contributions.
"A great part about tonight was all the energy brought by the team as one," Aguiar said. "Guys on the field feeding off the encouragement from those of us on the sideline."
Ibsam Coronel brought a lot of energy to the middle of the field, notching two assists, and JC Gonzalez, who had a goal and an assist, was steady on the ball and a connecting link on passes. Mahmoud Shimila led the Glads with two goals, giving him eight for the season to rank tied for fourth in the state.
