GLADS COMPETITIVE IN RETURN SEASON

The Chabot College men's soccer team will soon be wrapping up a spirited comeback season under first-year head coach Geoff Aguiar.
The Glads, who dropped a 3-2 decision to formidable Evergreen Valley on Friday in Hayward, won't be making the playoffs, but Aguiar's side has made an impact in the first season for the program after a year away.
'We have been competitive in every conference game we've played, which was an important part of our goals for the first year here," Aguiar said. "We are happy with the battles our guys are putting forth while we learn some important lessons. Several close matches in the last few didn't quite go our way."
The Glads (6-7-2, 2-7-2 Coast-South) honored second-year players Mahmoud Shimila and captain Walter Avellaneda on Friday in their season home finale.
"Both these guys have put everything into helping this program get on track, and have been a great examples for our first-year players in terms of performance, attitude, and behavior. We are very proud of those two," Aguiar said.
Chabot completes the season with road games at West Valley on Tuesday, Nov. 7 and Skyline, Friday, Nov. 10.
