It was a great first day of swimming for the Gladiators at the Coast Conference Championships on April 19, highlighted by personal best swims for almost everyone who competed.
Sophomore Shannon Fitzgerald dropped more than 13 seconds in the 500 freestyle, qualifying for the finals and scoring eighth overall.
Nicholas Dodemaide and Nicholas Gamboa both qualified for the finals, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. Dodemaide dropped 25 seconds and Gamboa dropped 12.
Marco Cazares had a personal best by 15 seconds and Alan Zhou had a personal best by five seconds, both adding to the Gladiator point total with 12th and 14th finishes.
Freshman Mathew Kho won the consolation finals, in ninth place overall, by dropping 10 seconds in his 200 Individual Medley.
