QUINONEZ SHINES IN OJAI STATE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP

Darian Quinonez had a strong showing when the Chabot men's tennis team completed the season at the 121st Ojai CA State Championship.
Quinonez notched two wins in singles before dropping a tough three-setter against Rafael Rullan of Riverside City, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. Quinonez beat Aaron Smith of El Camino 6-0, 6-1 in the Round of 64, and outfought Devon Kashishian of Irvine Valley 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the Round of 32.
In doubles, Quinonez and Stefan Schneider defeated to Sunny Choi and Clajerson Gimena of Bakersfield before falling in the second round, in a tight two-setter.
Also in singles, Chabot's Schneider and Timon Nguyen both fell in straight sets to players from Bakersfield.
Chabot, seeded third in the NorCal Dual Team Playoffs, advanced to the semifinals before falling to No. 1 American River 8-1 on April 11. Quinonez got the Glads' lone win, beating Lenny Lin 6-4, 7-5 in singles.
Chabot won the Coast Conference team title with a 7-1 record. Quinonez won the Coast singles championship.
