It was a good run for the Chabot women's basketball team, which earned 20 victories and tied for second place in the Coast-North.
But the strong season ended when the ninth-seeded Gladiators fell to host No. 8 Sacramento City 75-68 in Round 2 of the CCCAA Northern California Regionals on March 1.
Chabot's all-conference first-team picks Zakiya Mahoney (26 points) and Mia Finnie (24 points) paced the Gladiators.
In a tight battle, Sacramento outscored Chabot 27-22 in a high-scoring fourth quarter to prevail.
"A lot of adversity this year for the Gladiators, they never quit," a proud Chabot coach Mark Anger tweeted after the game.
Sacramento City will travel to No. 1 seed Diablo Valley College on March 9 in Round 3, with the winner advancing to the state finals.
