Lazaro Carrasco led the Chabot wrestling team at the North Regional Championships this past weekend, taking third place in the 197-pound weight class at San Joaquin Delta College.

Carrasco defeated Patrick Slatic of West Hills by fall in 2:35 in the third-place match.

Other Chabot placers were Gurbir Dhaliwal (eighth, 184) and Henry Espinal (eighth, 285).

The top six placers in each weight class advance to the California Community College State Wrestling Championships, Thursday-Saturday (Dec. 12-14) at Fresno City College.

Seventh-and-eighth placers are alternates.
