Chabot Women Have Offensive Firepower

The Chabot women's soccer team has showed some scoring punch heading into the week.
The Gladiators (1-2) walloped Siskiyous 5-0 on Aug. 31 and dropped a 3-2 cliffhanger against Marin on Sept. 3. Chabot travels to Merritt on Tuesday, Sept. 14 before hosting Reedley on Friday, Sept. 17.
Against Siskiyous, five different Gladiators scored, and Samantha Chavez led the charges with a goal and two assists. Others scoring were Aylin Acosta, Ivette Mendoza Ramir, Jimena Rodriguez, and Briana Torres, who also made three saves in goal.
Against Marin, the Gladiators started fast with two goals in the first half by Rodriguez, assisted by Torres and Chavez. Torres also made eight saves over 65 minutes.
In Chabot's season-opening, 3-0 loss to Las Positas, currently ranked No. 2 in the state, the Gladiators played the Hawks tough. The match was tied 0-0 for the first half before the visiting Hawks got some separation in the second half.
