The Chabot women's soccer team played a strong second half in a road loss to a fast and strong American River, 1-0, on Tuesday.
"We didn't get going until the second half, where we turned it on and really took it to them," Chabot head coach Dan Chubbock said.
The Glads (4-2), who entered the match riding a three-game winning streak, created a lot of chances. Those who took shots were Andrea De La Cruz, Nyarah Anderson-Brown, Marin Michieli, Emily Hornig, Alexa Perez and Melissa Esquivel, when the ARC keeper tipped a shot onto the post.
Chabot's Anderson-Brown locked it down at the back. Keeper Nat Hassmann had great distribution and was solid throughout.
ARC's lone goal came off a corner kick in the 25th minute.
Chubbock felt the long drive to ARC affected the team.
"The three-hour journey for our first road trip meant we started a little lethargic, so we need to work on our process for the next one," he said. "I'm proud of the effort and felt that we were good for at least a draw with all the second-half possession and chances created. Just need to start how we finished next time."
