CHABOT WOMEN'S TENNIS A SMASH HIT

The Chabot women's tennis team continued its sterling start to the season with a perfect record in the North vs. South Tourney in Ventura, helping the North prevail 4-0.
In a 9-0 win over Ventura on Feb. 16, Stephanie Huang breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win and Sophie Moeckelmann carved out a tough 7-5, 6-4 victory. Claire Keeshan also prevailed in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.
The Gladiators also swept Saddleback 6-0, behind lopsided singles wins from Stephanie Huang, 6-0, 6-0, and Lisa Bargeman, 6-1, 6-1.
On Feb. 19, Chabot, which has an 8-1 overall record, beat Cabrillo 7-2. Cruising in straight sets were Keeshan, 6-2, 6-2, Kathleen Berriatua, 6-0, 6-0, and Elizabeth Covarrubias, 6-3, 6-4.
Chabot also bested Santa Rosa 6-3 on Feb. 21. In doubles, the Gladiators received clutch wins from Huang and Lisa Bargeman, 8-1, and Berriatua and Kathy Donofrio, 8-6. Elen Stoops took a tough win in singles, 6-4, 4-6 (10-1).
Chabot also hammered West Valley 9-0 as Moeckelmann cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 singles win.
