This morning at the University of Santa Clara's Cross Country Invitational Chabot Frosh Jacob Lawrence (Amador Valley HS)  was the top Community College finisher over the 8 kilometer course (4.97 miles). Jacob nearly missed the Community College course record by only 1 second.  Jacob would finish with a time of 24:14 (4:53 per mile) which was good for 18th place out of 320 athletes.  Most of which were from NCAA Division 1 Universities. 

 

Jacob has solidified himself as a favorite to win the Individual State title nearly one month from now in Fresno.  Attached are several pictures from his race and inserted below is an article from the Chabot Athletics page demonstrating the adversities he's gone through to get to where he is now.  He is now being recruited by University of Portland, UC Santa Barbara, Saint Mary's College of CA, and Division II Cross Country Powerhouse Chico State.
