CHABOT OFFENSE PACKS A WALLOP IN CONFERENCE WIN

The Chabot baseball team delivered a balanced effort in an 11-3 win over host Cañada on Saturday, March 12 in Coast-North action.
The Gladiators (10-7, 1-1) hammered Colts pitching as five players had at least two hits. Brian Duroff made the most of his two hits with a home run, double and two RBI. Jon Gazdar was 3 for 5 with a double and RBI, and Nick Maestas was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI. Justin Durflinger was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Fernando Sansone was 2 for 5 with an RBI.
Chabot also dropped a 4-1 decision to visiting College of San Mateo on March 10. Chabot starter Gabe Tanner allowed four hits and two earned runs over 6.0 innings, striking out six and walking two. Reliever Hawk Hill worked a hitless ninth inning with a strikeout.
Duroff slugged a solo home run in the third, tying the game 1-1. Maestas, the center fielder, was 2 for 3.
The Gladiators will host Cañada at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, and then will travel to West Valley on March 17 and host West Valley on March 19, in conference play.
