CHABOT TOO STRONG FOR RIVAL CSM

The Chabot baseball team notched back-to-back wins over rival College of San Mateo in the Coast-North last week, besting the Bulldogs 6-0 on Thursday and 3-2 on Saturday.
An array of solid pitching, timely hitting and capable defense keyed the efforts.
In the 6-0 road win, four Chabot pitchers combined on the shutout as starter Hawk Hill went four strong to collect the win, allowing two hits and striking out three. Relievers Josh Caravalho, Cade Balma and Carson Glavich nailed it down.
Quinn Ayres powered the offense with a solo home run and two runs scored. Nick Maestas and Matt Sugden both had two hits. The Gladiators had eight hits and made no errors on defense in the impressive team performance.
In the 3-2 win at home, Gabe Tanner pitched 5.2 innings, striking out 10 and improving his season record to 4-4. Caravalho went 1.2 innings with two strikeouts.
Great TEAM win!" Chabot coach Will Tavis said.
Sam Gilliam was 1 for 3 with a two-run homer as the Gladiators (18-12, 6-6) scored all their runs off CSM starter Joey Cirelli in the third inning.
Matt Sugden was 1 for 2 from the plate.
