BASEBALL CHABOT LEADING THE WAY

The strong efforts keep coming for the Chabot College baseball team, which entered the week with a three-game lead in the Coast-North Conference. The Glads (24-10-1, 11-4) lead the conference in runs scored overall with 296 and runs scored in conference play with 110.
Chabot took two of three from Skyline last week and, impressively, has won every series in conference this season.
Nick Mladinich slugged two of the Glads' four home runs in an 8-5 triumph over Skyline on Saturday, April 15 at Steve Friend Stadium. Casey Cummings and Justin Durflinger also went deep for Chabot. Winning pitcher Antoine Valerio went 6.1 innings, striking out nine and walking none.
Durflinger and Mladinich both had three RBI. Alonzo Guijarro doubled.
In a 9-1 rout of Skyline on April 11, Sam Heyman pitched well over 7.0 innings, allowing four hits and one earned run with eight strikeouts and one walk. Valerio nailed down the win with two shutout innings, striking out six and allowing no hits.
Cummings was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBI from the leadoff spot. Mladinich, who had a big series, was 3 for 4 with three RBI. Brian DuRoff and Liam Forsyth doubled. Durflinger was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Dominic Charles scored twice and was 1 for 2 with an RBI.
Chabot also sparkled on defense with no errors.
