BASEBALL CONFERENCE CHAMPS!

The Chabot College baseball team clinched the Coast-North Conference championship with a thrilling win over host West Valley, 6-5, in 10 innings on Saturday, April 22.
The Gladiators lead the Coast-North by three games with two contests remaining this week. Chabot hosts City College of San Francisco on Tuesday and travels to Skyline on Thursday. Both games start at 2:30 p.m. The playoffs start next week.
Shortstop Justin Durflinger had a huge game in the conference clincher, going 3 for 5 with a home run, double and three RBI. His RBI single in the top of the 10th broke a 5-5 tie, scoring pinch runner Jalen Owens.
The Glads pounded out 12 hits, including six for extra bases, and made no errors. Leadoff center fielder Casey Cummings, DH Fred Ramos (double, triple), left fielder Dominick Tuyor and second baseman Nick Mladinich (double) each had two hits.
Carson Glavich (4-3) worked 1.2 innings to get the win, allowing no hits, no runs, striking out one, and walking none.
The Glads also rallied to take a 10-9 thriller over host Canada on Tuesday, April 18. Brian DuRoff slugged a three-run homer in the third to get the comeback rolling. Enjoying a massive season, DuRoff leads the state in home runs with 18 and RBI with 69. Cummings is third in the state with 13 home runs.
Durflinger was 3 for 5 with a home run, double and two RBI, Tuyor had three hits and three runs scored. Mladinich and Liam Forsyth had two RBI apiece.
