CHABOT MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW

The Chabot football team improved to 2-2 with their second consecutive win, 28-16 over host West Hills-Coalinga on a hot Saturday afternoon. Chabot quarterback LT Beck was a tidy 6 of 8 passing for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Wideout Jamal Lavallier had a big game with three touchdown catches on just three receptions. In an unusual situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Gladiators accommodated West Hills' request to play only 12-minute quarters. West Hills had very limited practice time and was playing its season opener on Saturday due to COVID-19 personnel issues. "It was the right thing to do for a team that has had Covid setbacks … Proud of our guys for being able to handle the distractions and abnormalities," Chabot head coach Eric Fanene said. Workhorse back Amari Tidwell had a team-high 68 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown. Tariq Jabbaar and Joseph Broussard bolstered the running game combining for 83 yards. Chabot's other signal-caller Kekoa Turangan was 3 for 8 for 70 yards and a TD pass. Chabot will host Shasta on Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. at Gladiator Stadium.
