Chabot, which is expected to figure prominently in the regional and state rankings throughout the season, opens the 53rd Gladiators Classic Tournament against Shasta at 2 p.m. on Thursday. The eight-team, three-day tourney continues with action Friday and Saturday.

Also in the field are Porterville, Ohlone, Simpson Junior Varsity, Canada (Redwood City), Feather River and Reedley.

The semifinals are 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, and the championship game is 6 p.m. on Saturday.
