RIVERA PACES GLADIATORS

The Chabot men's basketball team had a 1-2 record against tough competition in the Shasta Invitational last week. The Gladiators, ranked No. 4 in the Preseason CCCMBCA Men's Basketball Poll, will travel to Monterey Peninsula on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
The Gladiators opened the Shasta Invitational with a 76-66 win over host Shasta. Jaiden Rivera came off the bench to score a team-high 20 points, going 6 for 8 from the field. David Hector had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Gladiators (4-2) then fell to No. 5 ranked Santa Rosa 74-56 and Merritt 58-55. Zach Broadous had a game-high 22 points against Merritt, and David Ogunleye had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Gladiators struggled from the floor against Santa Rosa, shooting 29 percent. Diggy Winbush had 13 points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists.
