The Chabot women’s basketball delivered a strong series of performances

The Chabot women's basketball delivered a strong series of performances at the powerful Gilcrest Invitational in Visalia last week. 

Nyah Willis paced Chabot with 25 points, nine rebounds and five steals in a 53-49 win over LA Valley in the Consolation Championship on Dec. 7. Chabot played tough defense, forcing 35 turnovers. Adorah Buggs earned All-Tournament honors.

The Gladiators (8-3) also rallied for an impressive blowout win over Canyons, 81-57, on Dec. 6 to advance to the consolation final. Five Chabot players scored in double figures. Buggs led the way with 18 points and Kayla Tahaafe had 15 points and five assists. Chabot outscored Canyons 45-26 in the second half.

The Gladiators opened the tourney with a hard-fought 56-47 loss to state No. 2 Ventura. Buggs had 15 points, Willis had 13 and Zakiya Mahoney had 13 rebounds and five assists.
