LOPEZ, CHABOT WOMEN DETERMINED IN VICTORY

Mikee Lopez pointed the way for the Chabot College women's basketball team in a come-from-behind win over Cabrillo, 75-70, on Dec. 14 in nonconference action.
Lopez, who is coming off an ACL tear in 2019-20, scored a team-high 22 points in helping erase a seven-point deficit with seven minutes to go. Despite having not played point guard at Chabot previously, Lopez, one of the team's two sophomores, turned in 40 polished minutes.
All five Chabot players reached double figures. The young Gladiators led 41-31 at the half, but lost the lead and came back to win.
"The girls showed tremendous heart and determination," coach Mark Anger said. "We will be back at full strength soon."
Reina Phillips (16 points, 10 boards), Anessa Spradley (11 points, 15 boards) and Kendra Grant (16 points, 11 rebounds) all had double-doubles for the Gladiators. Aryana Khalik had 10 points and seven assists.
