CHABOT WOMEN'S TEAM EYES BRIGHT FUTURE

The future looks bright for the Chabot women's basketball team after another solid season under head coach Mark Anger.
The Gladiators, who have four starters back next season, finished with a 14-13 overall record. Chabot, as the 13th seed in the CCCAA Northern California Regional Playoffs, fell on the road to No. 4 Fresno City 83-65 in Round 2 on Thursday.
Anger called the Fresno City matchup a "tough road game. We battled and grew up."
Overall, the Gladiators showed moxie during a tough schedule, including finishing third in the Coast-North Conference at 7-3.
"We had a lot of adversity with COVID and injuries, but we pulled it together and made the playoffs for the 10th straight year," Anger stated. "We have four starters back and the future is very bright."
Chabot freshmen returners Dede Franklin (12.5 ppg), Cassidy Duncan (13.1 ppg) and Kendra Grant (12.9 ppg) were first-team all-conference selections.
Chabot advanced to the State's Elite 8 in the 2019-20 season, but the state tournament was abruptly canceled due to the virus. The 2020-21 season was also canceled due to COVID.
