Wet and wild weather did not deter Chabot track and field athletes from delivering solid performances at their own Mike Fanelli Invitational March 29-30.
Jacob Lawrence placed second in the men’s 5,000 meters with a time of 14:51.63 at the Northern California Community College Track and Field Championships Friday at Chabot.
Chabot runner Nico Melendres (Moreau Catholic) prevailed in the 800 meters in a time of 1:53.25 at the Occidental Invitational in a field composed of mostly four-year college athletes.
In an impressive haul, the Chabot men’s track and field team earned two Northern California individual titles and will send five to the CCCAA State Championships on May 17-18 at College of San Mateo.
Chabot freshman Ramir Smith blazed to glory with a first-place finish in the men’s 200 meters at the Coast Conference Track and Field Championships at De Anza in Cupertino, April 24-27.
Chabot College freshmen Patrick Alexander and Zach Connolly earned individual titles in the CCCAA Northern California Championships on May 11 at Sacramento City’s Hughes Stadium.
