Chabot Football Releases 2019 Schedule

Chabot Football Releases 2019 Schedule

With the fall semester finally upon us, the sounds of summer have begun to give way to the pad cracking vibrations of football season. Chabot College Head Football Coach Eric Fanene couldn't be more ready, and is excited to release the official schedule for the 2019 campaign. "We play in one of, if not the toughest conferences in the state," says Fanene.  "This conference brings out the best in our players and staff, which is great because we are all competitors."  With an unbelievable recruiting class to add to a seasoned and experienced group of returners, this group of highly motivated Gladiators are poised for a run at a Bay 6 Conference title.

A year ago, Chabot football finished the season ranked 25th in California in the last CCCAA/CCCFCA Coaches Poll. Word on the street is that the Gladiators are ready to make a jump up the charts in 2019.  The first opportunity to gauge the program's growth will be August 29 when the squad travels to central valley power Fresno City College for a pre-season scrimmage. Play is scheduled to start at 4PM.

A little over a week later, the official season will begin at Shasta College on September 7, with a 6PM kick off. This will serve as one of five road games for the Glads as they'll travel to Delta College (9/21), West Hills Coalinga (10/5), Diablo Valley (10/18) and Bay Area rival, College of San Mateo (11/9). While the competition in one of the toughest conferences in the state is hard enough, the miles that Chabot will travel throughout the year will serve as another important test for Coach Fanene's team.  For each of these trips, Fanene sets the goal to "WIN THE TRIP," meaning the team must stay discipline from the moment they leave campus until they return.  Fanene adds, "The itinerary must be detailed for our athletes, coaches and staff to ensure we stay focused and that we are successful."

With the road schedule serving as a great test for Chabot, the home schedule will offer an equal challenge in 2019. Five home games highlight this year's schedule and will serve as a great opportunity to showcase Chabot Football in front of the local community. Of the five teams on the home schedule, three were also ranked in the top 25 final polls in 2018. Defending Gladiator ground will begin September 14 as the Giants of Sequoias will travel to Hayward for a 6PM kickoff. Two weeks later, College of the Siskyious will come to town (9/28), followed by Santa Rosa (10/26), City College of San Francisco (11/2), and the regular season finale against East Bay rival Laney College on November 16. All home games are scheduled to start at 6PM.  According to Fanene, the home schedule is the best part of the season.  "Playing in our city, on our campus, in front of our community. With the amazing history and unbelievable direction the program is going, how could you not be excited to play on this campus?"
