KOTEY RUNS WELL, GLADS FALL

Josiah Kotey ran for 112 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, but Chabot College fell to host Diablo Valley 35-24 Friday in the teams' National-Bay 6 football openers.
Kotey, who also had four receptions, averaged 14.0 yards per run. Manny Higgins had five receptions for a team-high 82 yards with a touchdown.
Two Chabot sophomore defensive backs had productive games. Eric Johnson had two interceptions and Youcef Benchohra had eight tackles.
The teams battled evenly throughout. The score was 14-14 after one quarter, but the Vikings led 21-14 at the half.
Chabot falls to 0-6 overall, and DVC rises to 2-4.
Glads quarterback Colby Furia completed 18 of 37 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown. He was intercepted twice. Kierr Stewart had five catches for 57 yards.
Chabot will continue conference play against San Joaquin Delta on Saturday, Oct. 21 at McNair High in Stockton. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
