The Chabot men's basketball team finished off a rousing 3-0 trip down south with a 100-77 rout of Los Angeles City. Chabot also beat Glendale 87-77 and Pasadena City 92-69, both in the Skip Robinson Classic, on the trip.
Chabot, ranked ninth in the state in the CCCMBCA Preseason State Top 30, and No. 5 in NorCal, improved to 6-2 overall. Impressively, their only two losses this season came to preseason State No. 1 Fullerton 75-69 and No. 4 San Diego City, 89-74.
Four Gladiators hit double figures in the win over Los Angeles City: Zach Broadous 22 points (12-13 ft),11 rebounds, seven assists; Noah Thomas 21 points (7-13 fg), six rebounds, 4 steals; Makaio Mims 20 points (4-9 3s), 8 rebounds; and Marcellus Edwards 16 points. The team had 11 3s.
Chabot next faces Irvine Valley on Thursday in the Monterey Bay Classic.
Against Glendale, the Glads erased a two-point halftime deficit with a 53-41 scoring margin in the second half. Chabot shot an impressive 50 percent from 3-point range, led by Thomas going 4 for 6 on treys and scoring a team-high 22 points. Malik Kaba scored 15 from off the bench.
Against Pasadena City, Mims had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Broadous had 18 points and seven rebounds; Mehki Thomas had 12 points and three boards; Edwards added 11 points and 4 rebounds; and Noah Thomas added 11 points and three boards.
