PROCTOR, NORMANN WIN NORCAL TRACK TITLES!

In an impressive haul, the Chabot men's track and field team earned two Northern California individual titles and will send five to the CCCAA State Championships on May 17-18 at College of San Mateo.
Chabot's Peter Normann prevailed in the men's 3,000-meter Steeplechase in the NorCal Finals at Modesto Junior College, and state leader Reece Proctor triumphed in the 800 meters. Sebastian Andersson finished third in the 10K to qualify for state and placed fourth in the 5K. Sprinters Roman Johnson (third, 100) and Ramir Smith (fifth, 200) also qualified for state.
In a tactical 800 race, Proctor took the win over state No. 2 ranked Xavier Weaver of American River in a time of 1 minute, 53.57 seconds. Weaver finished in 1:54.94. Proctor leads the state with a Chabot school-record time of 1:49.42.
In the steeplechase, Normann won a power struggle against American River star Ben Blankenburg, who pushed the pace over the final 1,000 meters as Normann held on for the win in a time of 9:43.64. In the 10K, Andersson had a time of 32:54.47, finishing behind only winner Jesus Avalos of Hartnell (32:36.53) and Oscar Perez of Sequoias (32:40.75).
