The Chabot softball team had a lot to smile about after a doubleheader sweep of host Los Medanos on March 26, prevailing 10-4 and 8-0 in nonconference action.
In the 10-4 first game, leadoff Aliya Lubrin did her job splendidly with five stolen bases.
Juliana Ottria had a big game as the winning pitcher who also doubled and singled and stole a base. Cherlyn Sandal had two singles, Lili Rodriguez singled and Haley Matthews had a single and a double. Briana Arguello lashed a triple.
In Game 2, Jalen Fa'aita slugged her first home run of the season, and Gracie Franklin-Willis got her first shutout win over six innings.
The always productive Lubrin had two hits and amassed six stolen bases, giving her an impressive 11 steals on the day.
Chabot also competed well in an 9-2 loss to Monterey Peninsula on March 24. Franklin-Willis had both her first full game pitching and first hit of the season. Sandal was 3 for 4 with a run scored. The catcher Rodriguez doubled, singled and stole a base, and threw out a runner stealing. Fa'aita singled and stole a base and Emilie Vonderheid had two hits.
Chabot continues Coast Conference play at Cabrillo on Tuesday, March 29 and then hosts San Jose on Friday in conference. Both games start at 3 p.m. Chabot also hosts Porterville in a Saturday doubleheader on April 2.
