HINES, FRANKLIN SIGN WITH LINCOLN

Chabot women's basketball stars Arielle Hines and Dede Franklin, both first-team All-Coast-North Conference selections, have signed full scholarships with Lincoln University (Oakland).
Hines averaged 14.7 points and a team-high 9.6 rebounds per game, and Franklin averaged 10.7 points and a team-high 4.8 assists per game.
Both players received high praise from Chabot head coach Mark Anger, who expects them to shine at Lincoln.
"Arielle and Dede were hard-nosed, tough players who always set a high standard in practice and games. They will leave a big hole in the program," said Chabot head coach Mark Anger. "They will have a huge impact on the (Lincoln) program."
He added that the opportunity to play together was also important for the girls. Plus, they get to stay close to home.
Anger's always very competitive Glads finished third in conference with a 6-4 mark, advancing to the first round of the CCCAA NorCal Basketball Playoffs.
Lincoln gained acclaim when former NBA star point guard Gary Payton, an Oakland native, became its first men's head coach in June 2021. The women's team is guided by head coach Aimee Longoria.
