EX-CHABOT STAR GREEN CALLED UP TO LIBERTY CAMP

Former Chabot great Morgan Green was one of two players signed to training camp contracts by the WNBA's New York Liberty.
Green, 26, a 5-foot-9 guard who led the Gladiators to their first state championship in women's basketball in 2015, also played collegiately at Michigan State and UC Irvine.
"The best player to ever play at Chabot and a great leader, she made everyone around her better," Chabot coach Mark Anger said of Green, his former player.
Green is a member of E.ON ELTE BEAC Budapest in Hungary's A Division. The Santa Cruz native is averaging 17 points, 5.7 assists and 5.5 rebounds, and is shooting 35.3 percent shooting on 3-pointers through 20 games this season.
Eight years ago, Green had 26 points, hitting nine of 16 from the floor, in the Glads' 63-58 win over Mt. San Antonio College in the state championship game. The point guard was named state tournament MVP.
In the memorable state championship game, Michelle Townsend hit a 3-pointer with 1:05 left and then converted two free throws with one second remains to clinch it against the previously undefeated Mounties. The Glads finished 31-3.
The New York Liberty's training camp begins on April 30.
