Chabot wrestler wins state title

Chabot College sophomore Anthony Cress won a second straight California Community College Athletic Association State Wrestling championship, defeating Brian Horn of Sacramento City 6-3 in the 197-pound final Dec. 8 in Norwalk.
Cress, a 26–year-old Antioch High graduate, served in the United States Army for 6 years after graduating high school. He becomes the third two-time state champ in Chabot wrestling history.
Cress also won the 174-pound state title in 2017. He also repeated as NorCal regional champion on Dec. 1, also beating Horn in the final.
Chabot finished 12th as a team at the state tourney with 31 points. Chabot's Kevin Garcia (165 pounds) finished sixth, dropping his final consolation match by a Major Decision to Moorpark's Devin Top, 12-1.
