The Chabot College wrestling team placed a solid ninth in the SAC City Invite on Sept. 21, their first tournament of the season.
Chabot freshman Anthony Barbalinardo was seventh in the 125-pound weight class, losing by fall to Mario Moreno of Fresno City in the quarterfinals. He also dropped a 16-8 decision against Kaithen Estrada in consolation action. Moreno was No. 2 in the California Community College State Wrestling Championships last year and Estrada wound up seventh.
At 184 pounds, Chabot freshman Hussein Abushi took an excellent fourth, dropping a Consolation Finals match in overtime to Daniel Long of Fresno City, 8-6.
In the 285 class, Chabot sophomore Lazaro Carrasco finished fifth with a loss to Jacob Satorio of Fresno City in the semifinals. He also dropped a competitive match to eventual third-place finisher Juan Camacho of Cuesta 8-4 in the consolation semifinals.
