The Chabot men's basketball team had much to celebrate after sweeping two Coast-North Conference rivals last week.
The Glads capped the week with a rousing triumph over district-rival, top-ranked Las Positas, 93-77, on Friday that secured the rivalry trophy for the third consecutive season. With a high-energy, dazzling style, Chabot has won four in a row and six of its past seven.
The home romp at John L. Wagoner Court followed a victory over visiting De Anza, 83-72, on Wednesday.
The Glads (18-6, 7-3) have surged into a three-way tie for second place with Las Positas and Skyline, gaining a measure of revenge against Las Positas, which
beat Chabot in the first round of conference play in Livermore.
The Glads' Big Three of Amani Johnson (21 points), Marcellus Edwards (22 points) and Zion Yeargin (20 points) combined to go 24 of 38 from the floor with seven 3-pointers, 15 rebounds, 13 assists, and seven steals. Oz Savage had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Center Christian Wilson stepped up with a big game, with 10 points, seven boards and two blocks.
Chabot will look to keep it rolling in the powerhouse conference this week with a road test against Skyline on Wednesday, Feb. 12. The Glads will host College of San Mateo on Friday, Feb. 14.
Against De Anza, Johnson paced a balanced offense with 16 points, and Aaiden Burris had a big game with 15 points and seven rebounds. Yeargin and Edwards had 14 points apiece. Savage added 11 points.
