GLADS MAKE IT SIX IN A ROW!!
The Chabot men's basketball team made it six consecutive wins with back-to-back triumphs this past week. The No. 19 Glads first upended No. 17 Skyline on the road, 73-65, on Feb. 12, and then walloped visiting College of San Mateo 84-63, on Feb. 14, both in the Coast-North Conference.
Chabot (20-6, 9-3) is tied for second place entering its showdown with conference-leading No. 2 City College of San Francisco (25-1, 11-1) in Hayward on Wednesday night. Tipoff is 7 p.m. at John L. Wagoner Court.
The Glads continue to deliver dazzling play on offense and gritty defense. Against Skyline, Marcellus Edwards and Zion Yeargin led the way with 20 points apiece, and center Christian Wilson powered for a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, off the bench
The Glads, who shot 50 percent from 3-point range and 52 percent from the floor, led by 16 at the half and held off the hosts.
Against CSM, Chabot broke open a close game with a 48-34 margin in the second half. Oz Savage had a monster game with four of the Glads' seven blocks along with 14 points and seven rebounds. Yeargin had a team-high 17 points, to go with seven assists and four boards.
Johnson had 15 points, three assists and five rebounds. Edwards had nine points, four assists, five rebounds, and two steals. Jeylen Slaton stepped up with seven points and nine rebounds.
The Glads will have revenge in mind against CCSF after dropping a 96-74 decision in San Francisco on Jan. 24, when Chabot shot 37 percent from the field and 29 percent on 3s.
