Bio
Jamaal Cannon begins his fifth year as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Chabot College, working under Head Coach Keenan McMiller. In his role, Coach Jamaal contributes to all aspects of the program, including recruiting, scouting, and player development.
Coach Jamaal launched his coaching career in 2010 at Merritt College, where he served under Head Coach Maurice Compton and Associate Head Coach Keenan McMiller. During his eight years at Merritt, he played a key role in leading teams to the CCCAA State Tournament Final Four in both 2013 and 2015.
A native of Richmond, CA, Jamaal attended two high schools: St. Mary’s High School in Berkeley and Berkeley High School, where he completed his education. He then played basketball for two years at Merritt College, sharing the court with Coach McMiller during one of those seasons. Jamaal continued his athletic career as a walk-on at Florida A&M University, where he earned his degree in Business Management in 2003. Several years later, he completed his Master’s in Business from San Francisco State University.
