Bio

Hailing from Oakland, California, Marquis brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the game. A former standout player, he began his basketball journey at Cañada College, where he played from 2012 to 2014. During his freshman year, Marquis earned All-Conference honors in the Coast North, showcasing his skill and passion on the court. This success led to a scholarship at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, where he was a two-year starter, averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds per game. As a two-year captain, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to his team.

After concluding his playing career, Marquis transitioned into coaching, quickly making an impact. He began as the JV head coach at Castlemont High School for two seasons, where he developed young talent and honed his coaching style. He then joined the varsity coaching staff at McClymonds High School as an assistant coach, gaining valuable experience at a higher level.

In 2021, Marquis returned to the junior college scene as an assistant coach at Foothill College. During his tenure, he contributed to the team’s growth, guiding three players to Coast North Honorable Mention, two to First Team Coast North All-Conference, one to First Team All-Freshman, and one to Freshman of the Year honors. Over two seasons, he helped the team achieve a combined record of 22-35 and secure a playoff berth in his first season as an assistant.

Currently pursuing a BA in Business Administration, with graduation expected in the spring of 2025, Marquis brings not only basketball knowledge but also strategic insight to his coaching. He is an excellent recruiter with a keen eye for talent. His unique blend of playing experience, leadership, and coaching acumen makes him a valuable asset in shaping the next generation of student-athletes.
