The Chabot men's soccer team competed well against strong opponents to open conference play, managing a draw against De Anza, 0-0, and a loss against Hartnell, 2-1.
The Glads played stout team defense against visiting De Anza on Tuesday, Oct. 1 as goalkeeper Colin Nestor, the Gladiator of the Month, made six saves, including an "incredible" save near the end of the game, according to head coach Geoff Aguiar.
On Friday, Oct. 4, Chabot fought back from a 2-0 deficit at Hartnell but fell short.
"We continued to battle, made some adjustments and won the second half, 1-0," Aguiar said. "Eloy Sierra had a standout performance and got the goal, and we had a couple chances to tie it to close the game out, but they held on for the win."
This week, Chabot has home games against Monterey Peninsula at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and Cañada, at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11.
A trio of teams began this week atop the Coast-North Conference with 2-0 records — Hartnell, Skyline, Cabrillo. Chabot is next at 0-1-1. The Glads are 4-3-2 overall.
