GLADS TASTE SWEET VICTORY
The Glads (2-19, 1-2 Coast) took a memorable win over Siskiyous 2-1 on March 14, splitting a home doubleheader. Chabot pitcher Katrina Longoria fired a 2-hitter and allowed no earned runs over 7.0 innings.
Longoria also shined at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two doubles and a run scored.
The Glads did all the damage they needed with two runs in the first inning. Sisavaii Fonua drove in Connie Rodriguez with a sacrifice fly, and Aracely Macias Delgado had an RBI single that brought in Longoria.
Macias Delgado was 2 for 3 at the plate.
Siskiyous scored an unearned run in the top of the seventh, but the Gladiators sealed the win.
Chabot also earned a dramatic win over Cabrillo on March 11 in Coast Conference play in Hayward. Fonua capped a tremendous game with a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Anna Roldan.
Fonua was 3 for 3 with a double, two home runs and five RBI. She belted a three-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the third.
Longoria was 2 for 4 and went the distance for the pitching win, allowing four hits and three earned runs. She struck out seven and walked one.
