CHABOT WOMEN RESILIENT ON ROAD
Despite suffering three defeats against tough competition in the Tom Gilchrist Invitational this past week, the Chabot women's basketball team can hold its head high.
"The Lady Gladiators showed great resilience and teamwork," head coach Mark Anger said.
The Glads (6-4) opened with a loss to Laney, 79-46, and then had close defeats to Cerro Coso, 86-79, and LA Valley, 70-67 in overtime.
Lex Pletschette led the way against LA Valley with 27 points, and Kaida Angelo had 14 points and 13 rebounds and made a remarkable 30-foot buzzer-beater at the end of regulation to force overtime.
Nia Hunter amassed 21 points and 11 boards against Cerro Coso, and Pletschette had 18 points and seven assists.
Overall, Pletschette averaged an impressive 18.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and two steals over the three games. Angelo averaged 14.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.3 steals. Hunter was also a standout at 13.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.3 steals.
