GLADS SET FOR CCSF SHOWDOWN
The Chabot women's basketball team is ready for its monster home showdown with City College of San Francisco on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Tipoff is 5 p.m.
The Glads, who have won six in a row, prepared for Wednesday's battle by sweeping Skyline and San Mateo last week. Chabot (17-10, 8-1) trails CCSF (16-8, 8-0) heading into the Glads' Coast-North season finale.
CCSF has two conference games left, also including a home game against College of San Mateo on Friday, Feb. 21.
"We have worked all year for a chance to play for the league championship, and we have that opportunity," Chabot coach Mark Anger said. "We have started playing our best basketball of the season. It should be a great game."
Chabot took care of business against CSM on Friday with a 67-56 win, leading 40-24 and cruising home. Freshman Kenya Craven of Dublin had a big game with 20 points. Lex Pletschette had 20 points and the team played great defense overall.
Against Skyline, the Glads earned a thrilling road win, 70-66.
Sophomore guard Chelsy Antinero hit a clutch runner to give Chabot a 68-66 lead with 34 seconds left in the game. Pletschette led the way with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
"She impacted the game in every way," Anger said of Pletschette on Instagram. "Big-time performance!"
Nia Hunter was also excellent with 18 points, and Antinero had 15 points.
"Great road win. The girls battled all night and got the stops when we needed them," Anger said.
